Gravity is my first book by Lauren Runrow. I am always slightly hesitant to read a new author, especially in a genre where I am quick finicky. There are very few rock star romances that I am fan of only because I know what I like and don't like in them. Lauren gave me a different side that I wasn't expecting and I actually enjoyed it.Gravity is so much more than just the rock star ambiance of sex, drugs and music. Yes, it's there but it's more of muted point. It's not a driving force in this book; it's almost viewed expected and accepted. Gravity is more about watching two friends grow - sometimes together and sometimes apart. It's got its sweet moments and it's got its ugly and moments.
Trevin and Lily are two kids who become instant friends at the age of 8. They are there for each other through everything as they grow up. Lily is there when Trev gets his big break and does her best to stay right there with him as his life blows up. Lily is getting herself through college and tries to teach dance as much as she can. And when things are finally falling into place for them, they are finally ready to give way to what has always been there - them together. But not every HEA is without it's drama along the way.
"You'll always be my gravity. You're what I need to stay grounded, no matter where I go, no matter what happens, remember that. Only you."
Lauren really surprised with how this story progressed. I knew at some point a problem had to arise and when it came to fruition, as much as I knew it was going to happen, I was still slightly shocked by it and how everything plays out afterwards . Lauren lays this book out nicely. If flows extremely and I love that it's told from both their POV's. I enjoy how she wrote Trev and Lily's story. It's honest, real and raw.
If you are like me and have enjoy a good YA/NA book, I highly recommend giving this book a go. I will definitely be looking to more of Lauren's other books.

This book was all over FB & IG so I knew I had to read it ASAP! I'm glad I did!!! It is real & raw. I devoured Lily & Trevin's story! You will laugh, cry and swoon! Ms. Runow has quickly become an automatic 1-click author for me!
Have you ever related to a story on a personal level? I confess that I had this deep, profound connection to Lauren Runow's Gravity from the very start! I was drawn to want to read Gravity, when I first read the blurb Lily, “At eight years old, the boy next door changed my life.” To say this caught my attention is an understatement. You see when we were both eight years old, my family moved next door to my now husband, and we begin our first chapter together. When I first started reading the book, I could not believe how their first encounter was so similar to ours.
“Hi, I'm Trevin, What's your name?” A boy sneaks around the fence to where I tried to hide
from him.
“Lily,” I shyly state, not daring to met his gaze.
“Lily—like the pad?”
“Excuse me?” My head shoots up.
“You know, lily pad, like what frogs jump on in a pond.”
“So, Lily Pad, did you just move in?”
“My name is not Lily Pad, just Lily...and yes we moved in yesterday.”
There were so many similarities like their bedrooms face each other, but theirs had forty feet between their houses, and we just had my parent's driveway. They loved to ride bikes and we loved to ride bikes. But they talked back and forth with walkie talkies, and now I find out my husband had a set and never gave me one. Upset about that!
As they grew older they remained the Best of Friends. Lily's parents were making her learn to play an instrument. Trevin told her he would love to play the guitar, but his dad would never go for it. It was guitar lessons that Lily chose, with the intentions of teaching Trevin everything she learned. Turned out he was a natural, but she so was not! Baseball was his passion, but music was his dream. For his 17th birthday Lily saved up for over a year to give him his first electric guitar. For his 18th Birthday she set up an audition with Sony Records in San Francisco at the infamous Fillmore. Lily never thought that this would change their life and friendship forever. “He's been here, with me everyday since I was eight years old, and now he's gone.”
They had a connection that would last over distance and time. This is so much more than a 'Childhood Friends to Lovers' story. It was a hearts and soulmates kind-of-story, spanning over 20 years “You'll always be my gravity. You're what I need to stay grounded, no matter what happens. Remember that. Only you.” From the first “butterflies in her tummy,” from the first kiss, from their first time, to the first break-up, their love would weather the time.
“Without each other, we both will float away into darkness, because my life would be nothing without her. She'll always be my gravity. Keeping me grounded. Helping me be the man I want to be. The man I know I can be. The simple man!” Oh! I recommend this highly. It so connects with my own life, and it was my absolute favorite Lauren Runow novel.

Lily and Trev are childhood best friends who later discover that they could be more. Their journey together growing up hasn't been an easy one, especially for Trev. His home life isn't exactly the white picket fence family and Lily knows all about it. That is why when she discovers an "out" for him, she encourages him to take the opportunity. From there, they experience more up and downs any couple should have to deal with. And for Lily, she loses who she truly is and what she really wants from life by dropping her dreams to live out Trev's dream with him.
I took a huge chance with this book considering rock star stories aren't really my first choice when it comes to my reading taste. Also this was my first book by Lauren Runow, but this book blew me out of the water with it's emotional story. One that I am sure some can relate to in their own way. Lily and Trev were both amazing characters and their story is one that I will revisit again and again.
So I bought the book today and i finished the book today. I couldn't put it down. I was sucked in from the very beginning and still reeling at the end.
I experienced so many emotions with this book. Happiness, sadness, anger, shock,anger, disgust, giddiness, and love. It was everything I could of never imagined it would be. It's been a long time since I've found a book that just sticks with me and I know this will be one. I will definitely be checking into this author more.
