Desperate to save her grandmother from an unscrupulous loan shark, Cynda Avery agrees to Daniel De Marco's wildly inappropriate offer--control of her body for two weeks in exchange for time to talk him into selling his untended peach orchards.

Handsome Daniel isn't the redneck farmer Cynda expected. From the feminine clothes he wants her to wear to the confident way he handles every problem to the kinky way he likes to tie her up to have sex, he makes her want to please him. When she finds the key to his mother's disappearance and spends a weekend in jail, will Daniel decide Cynda's an itch he's already scratched or could he cling to dark flesh like hers?

Content warning Contains multiple scenes of bondage, light bdsm play, anal penetration, and spanking, both as foreplay and as discipline. Forks and fruit are used in sexual stimulation, and the story presents a relationship dynamic of domestic discipline. No fictional character was harmed in the making of this story.

I read the bad review a few weeks ago and chose not to buy..Yesterday I read all the reviews...then I reread the bad review and bought the book because I was intrigued and I liked the story line. I hate having to qualify my review but I am a Black woman raised and living in the south. I was not offended by the stereotypes in the book because I see them daily where I live, even in the fortune 500 company where I work...It's the reality of the South. The stereotypes were comical because there was a shock value that was over the top in this book...but I learned to love the characters all of them and the author did a fantastic job of explaining what made them tick.
I don't normally read or get into BDSM but I love my alpha males...my friend explained the culture and once you understand the dom/sub power/trust relationship this book is not offensive to women or black women... it's a culture thing. This story had me hooked, fascinated, enthralled.. I read it in 7 hours because I literally couldn't put it down. The wooden beads issue...Really the author explains his quirky desire for corn-rows..and if I had a fine ass Caveman like Daniel who wanted me to sport an afro...I would be a Foxy Brown afro wearing sista getting hooked up on the regular. I might hide the silverware--just the forks.
This book has it all a serious love story, a heroine who is strong enough to submit and trust and a Alpha Dom who is seriously flawed but endearingly so...I reread the book for all the good parts.
The constant ass worship from Daniel and his brothers...well the author got it right. Men in general or black men amongst themselves talk just like that..Ms Conner kept it real for the most part. I mean women talk about men with large thick appendages that we worship it's no difference. There's a love story that's heart warming, a mystery, great side characters and kinky arousing sex...LOVED IT. Please write another IR because this one was well done!! Those who were offended don't understand the culture of BDSM...it's not for the faint hearted. Ms Conner made me a believer. So give this book a try. Worth every penny!

Wildly Inappropriate Those Devilish De Marco Men Book 2 edition by Eden Connor Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

This wasn't my original title but rejected it (think of that phrase in Fifty Shades of Gray).

I just finished reading my first Eden Conner book, Wildly Inappropriate. I loved it! reviews are part of a buy decision, but if the sample makes me want to read on it's what I go on. Despite reviews about racism, slavery, demeaning women, etc., I'm glad I clicked the buy button.

Reviewers objected about how Cynda was dressed and leashed to Dan's truck. But this was done by a black loan shark to whom Cynda's gram owes money. Cynda didn't see any way out but to agree in return for him forgiving the debt.

Daniel DeMarco IS guilty of letting his kinky libido overrule good sense and courtesy. But seeing Cynda pushes buttons that haven't been pushed in quite awhile because, to Dan, if all he had to settle for was vanilla sex, "he'd as soon do without". Even if he thought Cynda was the latest in a string of incentives from a realtor to sell his land, all of which he had refused, he couldn't refuse this.

I'm a black woman from New England, and while I saw racism depicted in the story, to me there is no racism in the writing. I was a little concerned about a third of the way through because up to then it was about Cynda being in Dan's world and him not being in hers. But that changed, happily. If it hadn't I would have agreed that the book was somewhat tone deaf, racially. Racism may be about name calling, stereotypes and discrimination but that's just sticks and stones compared to its truly evil heart-- denying family, roots, and an individual's life, personality and dreams. Happily Connor didn't leave out Cynda's. Dan becomes more deeply involved in her world just as much as she is in his. What is missing is any mention of who Cynda was in her relationships with men before Dan. Other than her vague thoughts about past, unfullfilling relationships, this is one huge blank, especially in a romance.

Cynda is a great character. She is not weak, helpless, low class or trashy, or anti-feminist. Some may see her as passive and an underachiever, but she was quite real to me, as were her aims (admittedly not that high). But in this world of "Teen Mom" and "Real Housewives" reality shows, she shows strength, character and courage, and she has dreams. She sacrifices for her grandmother. She wants a man and children of her own. She maintains her dignity in situations where people think she is less than them.

She doesn't realize she likes to submit until she meets Dan and gets seriously turned on by his kinky, countrified magic. Yet she does choose this. He is quite upfront about her choices. She has a safe word and a contract. Cynda is no shrinking violet, and once she understands that Dan is trusting his emotions to her in dominating as much as she is in submitting to him, she begins to understand the trust, power and love in it. In submitting to him, she can read his cues and attune to his needs as well as he can to hers. Real D/S doesn't tear the submissive down, it builds her up and increases emotional intimacy. And Cynda grows stronger throughout her relationship with Dan.

"In your garden, I'm Eve, and when you take me shoe shopping, I'm Cinderella. On top of your mountain, I feel like Mother Earth. In your house, I'm a lady. You dress me like one and you insist others treat me like one."

I think Dan is more into domestic discipline than D/S or BDSM. He is a man who likes to take control, but he doesn't object to proving he deserves to be in control of her body. His role model was a dominant father who punished his mother for secretly using birth control pills and who Dan knew spanked her in the bedroom. Being the eldest son, the apple hadn't fallen far from the tree. He doesn't go to BDSM clubs, isn't into that scene at all. He is a simple farmer with an auto repair shop. His last girlfriend left because he's basically a caveman who wants to take care of a woman and wants her to take care of him and their children.

"When you found a woman who wanted to get up close and personal with your inner caveman on a long-term basis, you had to be her everything, because you were demanding that of her. You had to commit to becoming so attuned to every little shade and shift in her moods that she could hide nothing."

But damm, this is one inventive farmboy! I was amazed at the creative use of common household items. Silverware? Plastic ties? Bungee cords? Peach pits? He even finds stuff when they stay at his brother's house! No commercial sex toys for this McGyver; he's strictly a do-it-yourself type of guy! The orchard scene while he conversationally expounds on the varieties of clingstone and freestone peaches his grandfather developed while using the fruit on Cynda in ingenious ways -- that's pretty darn hot!

What did concern me is that they NEVER had vaginal sex. Now, I'm a huge fan of reading about anal anything, especially with spanking. But hey, just fingering the main road is NOT enough. Never getting part A into slot A, only into slot B was bizarre, even for me.

The mystery was well done, but I still guessed what happened halfway through, and I almost guessed whodunit, although the red herring was very good. This was a very satisfying read with emotional depth, characters you care about, and seriously hot sex. Even better? It's not a "Part 1" or trilogy. It has a beginning and a satisfying end with no stupid cliff-hanger, even though I think the characters appear in other books in the series. I have vowed to purchase no more FSOG type trilogies. I am so done, just don't stick a fork on me! But I'll definitely buy Conner's other books now that I have discovered her.

If you want to see my original title, check out my review on Goodreads. Freedom of speech is a little more free there.
So I always read negative reviews before I read a book, call me crazy but I want to know what people think is BAD about a book before I read it. I don't want to hear people gush and gush, raving about all the great things. So when I read the negative reviews for this book, I was already set to be on the lookout for some key points I thought would piss me off. I don't like spoilers, so I skip those, but I thought that surely these things were going to be a draw back for me. If a book intrigues me though, I will ALWAYS give it a change and I never break up a series so, I dove right into this one.

Lo and behold, none of those things came to light for me. Yes, this is a bi-racial romance and yes, it brings some serious issues to the forefront. But I live in the South, I grew up in the early 70's and 80's, I understand these things. They don't shock me. The things that some found offensive, were explained in Daniel's pov. Cynda is a wonderfully strong character. She is written with an inner beauty that I loved. She's funny and full of life.

Daniel is old school, southern man. Raised to be the head of his house and family. He is fabulous and sexy. I'm not sure how anyone could have found his fierce determination to protect his family and Cynda as anything but wonderful. They worked so well together.

Another fabulous read by a great author who is never afraid to cross boundaries and take on tough subjects.
